In 1982, the Sundance lake community was established. Its name was attributed to the Sun Dance of the Native American Indians living in Alberta’s beautiful plains. Local history said that they resided in the Fish Creek Valley from 6,500 BC until the early 19th century. Fish Creek Valley was later named Midnapore in 1883 when Sam Shaw, one of the settlers, received the misdelivered parcel supposedly for Midnapore, India. In 1961, Midnapore (the name referred broadly to the area encompassing Fish Creek and its valley) was annexed by Calgary and was divided into many neighborhood residences and sites. Sundance was one of those neighborhoods.

What's To Love

If you are looking for a clean, well-maintained home nestled amongst full-grown trees, you will love the Sundance neighborhood. You will also love its accessibility to schools, parks, transit, and access to the lake. You and your 4-legged friend can also enjoy the morning walk along Sundance Lake.

What's Not To Love

Being on the south side of the City and with all of the additional development south of here over the last several years, commutes can be a little bit longer to get into the inner city. Particularly when it snows. With that said, Sundance offers easy access to Stoney Trail, Calgary’s “ring road”. This is a good alternate route in times of traffic congestion and can get you to where you need to go!
