Woodlands was established in 1976 and Woodbine 4 years later in 1980. In the City of Calgary’s most recent municipal census, Woodlands had a population of 6,201 living in 2,397 dwellings, and Woodbine had a population of 9,131 living in 3,371 dwellings.

The newly construction southwest ring road is minutes from these communities and connects you to over 100 kilometers of free-flow travel around Calgary and easy access to the mountains to the west.

The communities of Woodlands and Woodbine are bordered by Fish Creek Provincial Park so if you are a nature lover and outdoor enthusiast, then these are the communities for you!  Fish Creek Park is an urban provincial park that preserves the valley of Fish Creek in the southern part of Calgary. Much of the park remains in a natural, forested state and offers more than 100 kilometres of paved and unpaved trails, the park is a popular area for hiking and biking, as well as swimming and fishing in the Bow River. Over 200 species of birds can be found in the park and there are ample ponds to see wildlife. It is bordered on three sides by the city, and on the west by the territory of the Tsuu T’ina Nation (Sarcee), a First Nation.

The communities have mature schools, access to numerous community parks, and the Woodcreek Community Association which represents both communities, hosts events throughout the year for seniors, youth and families including fitness classes, ice-skating, stampede breakfast, skate with Santa and much more!

What’s Not to Love

The community was developed in the late 70’s early 80’s. If you prefer modern construction, it may take some time to find a home in this community that has been renovated to today’s modern finishings. The benefit to buying home of this era is that the floorplans are typically larger with 3-4 bedrooms upstairs and can be updated with modern finishings. Detached homes can be found in these communities in the range of $450,000 – 1,800,000 for homes on or close to the ridge of Fish Creek Park.
